Precautionary Measures to be Taken Care Before Starting Woodworking Machine after a Long Duration

Cleaning Procedure:

  • Thoroughly clean the machine with a dry cloth. Do not use water or damp cloth to clean.
  • If the part is rusted, we recommend using WD-40 to clean the affected area.

Mechanical Unit:

  • Clean the compressor thoroughly. Remove old oil and fill it with fresh oil. Check for belt condition. Switch on and off the compressor and observe for any noise vibrations etc. If nothing is observed, fill the tank and check if auto cut-off and pressure release valve are in working condition.
  • Drain the water from the FRL unit. Remove the oil in the FRL unit and fill it with fresh oil to the marked level.
  • Check for air pressure in the FRL unit before starting the machine.
  • Wherever required thoroughly grease the greasing points. Remove old oil in the lubrication tank and pour fresh oil to the required level. Manually check if lubrication is working.
  • Open pneumatic air slowly, there is a possibility the pipe may burst. Add a few drops of oil to the Pneumatic pipeline.
  • Move mechanical parts manually if it is a movable part. Check the drive belts.
  • Clean Mechanical unit mainlines using a Vacuum pump (Industrial Vacuum Cleaner) or otherwise by hand. Do not use Air Compressor.
  • UPS battery might have drained out, then it has to be recharged.
  • Check for power cables damages. Check and confirm fuse carriers are ok for the main power supply box
  • Switch on the mains. Switch on control voltage and check if all parameters are fine on the monitor. Slowly start the machine and move the axis/bed etc manually. Run the machine in idle condition for some time. Observe for any noise, smoke, etc.
  • MOTOR:
    1. Initially switch on and switch off immediately. Repeat this 3 times.
    2. Next switch on for 5mins & switch off. Repeat twice
    3. Switch on for 10 minutes and switch off. Repeat twice.
    4. Switch on for 15 minutes and switch off. Repeat twice.
  • Do not operate a machine without a trained operator.

Electrical unit:

  • Open the panel and check for any broken/loose cable connections.
  • Check throughout the machine for any damages, loose parts, and for a cut or damaged cables bitten by rats, etc. We would recommend rat repellants in Electrical panels. Avoid frequent opening of electrical panels.
  • Clean Electrical panel mainlines using a Vacuum pump (Industrial Vacuum Cleaner) or otherwise by hand. Do not use Air Compressor.
